The murder occurred in the early hours of March 28 at a guest house located in Tivai Vaddo, Calangute. The victim, Rajbhar Ravinarayan Ramdarshanbhai, was part of a group of friends hailing from Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh who had traveled to Goa for employment opportunities in the casino industry.
According to preliminary investigations, the altercation began when the victim objected to derogatory comments made by his companions about his girlfriend. At the time, he was engaged in a WhatsApp video conversation with her, which escalated the tension among the group.

The verbal quarrel quickly turned physical, leading to a severe assault on the victim. In a desperate attempt to escape, he fled the guest house premises, with his friends in close pursuit. The chase culminated at a nearby resort, where the victim was cornered by the poolside.
It was at this location that one of the assailants, identified as Komal Baraskar, allegedly attacked the victim with a knife, inflicting multiple stab wounds.
