A tourist police unit constable lost his life after a Maharashtra-registered car collided with his two-wheeler at Sauntawaddo, Baga, at 4am on Sunday.
Victim Identified
The deceased, Ketan Gawade, aged 29, was a resident of Cumbharjua. He sustained severe head injuries in the accident and was immediately rushed to the district hospital in Mapusa. Subsequently, he was transferred to GMC, Bambolim, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Driver on the Run
The driver of the car, identified as Sajid Sheikh, a resident of Kolhapur, is currently absconding. The car owner has been traced and summoned to the Calangute police station for questioning. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances leading to the fatal crash.
