A 30-year-old worker at a grain warehouse in Godda district, Jharkhand, sustained bullet injuries to his leg after unidentified criminals opened fire on Monday. The incident occurred near Sudni More, with police confirming the attack followed an extortion threat.

Details of the Violent Assault

The injured individual has been identified as Jayram Mandal, aged 30. According to police reports, two assailants arrived at the warehouse on a motorcycle and fired two rounds. One bullet struck a table inside the premises, while the other hit Mandal, causing leg injuries.

Warehouse owner Nilesh Kumar revealed that he had received a threat call on March 9 demanding Rs 10 lakh in extortion money. Kumar promptly lodged a formal complaint with the Meharma police station regarding the threat.

Police Investigation Underway

Authorities are actively investigating whether this shooting incident is directly linked to the earlier extortion threat call. Mahagama sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Chandrashekhar Azad stated that police are examining CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify the perpetrators for further legal action.

The injured worker is currently admitted at Godda Sadar Hospital and is reported to be in stable condition, out of immediate danger. Medical staff are monitoring his recovery from the gunshot wound.
