Gold Theft in Aryanad: 10 Sovereigns Stolen from Couple's Home During Evening
In a shocking incident, around 10 sovereigns of gold ornaments were stolen from a house in Aryanad, Thiruvananthapuram, on Tuesday. The theft occurred at the residence of Anoop V and Nivya, located in Vellanad, while the couple was away from home.
Timeline of the Theft
According to police reports, the incident took place between 6pm and 7.45pm. The couple had left for Nivya's house at Ottasekharamangalam around 6pm. When Anoop returned approximately at 7.45pm, he discovered that the rear door of the house had been broken open. Upon entering, he found that both cupboards in the bedroom were opened, with their belongings scattered across the floor.
Stolen Items Detailed
The stolen items included a significant collection of gold jewelry, such as three gold necklaces, two lockets, a child's necklace, two bracelets, a pair of earrings, an ear chain, two children's bangles, and nine rings. Additionally, a silver chain valued at around Rs 1,000 was reported missing. The total value of the stolen goods is estimated to be substantial, given the weight and current market prices of gold.
Police Investigation Underway
Following the discovery, Aryanad police were immediately notified and registered a case. A dog squad and forensic experts were dispatched to the scene to collect evidence and examine the premises for clues. Authorities have launched a thorough probe to identify the perpetrators and recover the stolen items. The investigation is ongoing, with police urging anyone with information to come forward.
