Theft of Gold Ornaments in Belthangady
Gold ornaments valued at Rs 7.98 lakh were reported stolen in Belthangady, Karnataka, prompting police to register a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The incident came to light after a complaint was filed by the victim, leading to an investigation by the Belthangady Police.

According to police sources, the theft occurred at a residence in Belthangady taluk. The stolen items include multiple gold ornaments, including necklaces and bangles, with a total weight estimated to be around 160 grams. The victim, a local resident, discovered the missing ornaments and immediately lodged a complaint with the police.
Legal Action Taken
Based on the complaint, the Belthangady Police have registered a case under Sections 331(3) and 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Section 331(3) pertains to theft, while Section 305 deals with criminal trespass. The police have launched an investigation and are examining possible leads, including questioning suspects and reviewing CCTV footage from the area.
"We have registered a case and are investigating the matter thoroughly. The stolen gold ornaments are worth Rs 7.98 lakh, and we are working to recover them," said a police official from Belthangady station.
