In a major breakthrough that spans international borders, the Delhi Police Crime Branch has successfully apprehended the alleged mastermind behind the terrifying series of attacks targeting comedian Kapil Sharma's Kap's Cafe establishment in Surrey, Canada.
The Arrest and Firearm Seizure
The key suspect, Bandhu Maan Singh Shekhon, identified as a member of the notorious Goldy Dhillon gang, was arrested in Delhi following an intensive investigation. During the arrest operation, authorities recovered a Chinese-made PX-3 pistol from his possession, highlighting the sophisticated weaponry available to criminal networks operating across countries.
This significant arrest reveals the disturbing reach of Indian gang networks into foreign crime scenes, particularly in countries with substantial Indian diaspora populations like Canada. The investigation uncovered that Shekhon was allegedly the primary conspirator coordinating the attacks from Indian soil.
Series of Attacks on Kap's Cafe
Kap's Cafe, owned by popular Bollywood comedian Kapil Sharma, experienced three separate violent incidents since July 2025, creating panic in the Surrey community. The attacks followed a disturbing pattern that began with early morning gunfire at approximately 4:30 AM, followed by more brazen assaults using Molotov cocktails.
CCTV cameras captured dramatic footage of drive-by shootings where unidentified assailants in moving vehicles opened fire at the establishment. The suspects further escalated the intimidation by releasing videos directly threatening the cafe and its owner, creating an atmosphere of terror.
Multiple Groups Claim Responsibility
Investigators discovered that three different entities claimed responsibility for the attacks and issued further threats. Goldy Dhillon himself, along with Kulvir Sidhu and designated BKI terrorist Harjeet Singh Laddi, separately asserted their involvement in the coordinated campaign against Kap's Cafe.
Their statements contained specific threats of additional action and accused several Bollywood personalities of making what they termed as "anti-religious remarks." In a particularly chilling revelation, the gang members claimed that Kapil Sharma had been unresponsive to their phone calls, suggesting the attacks were partly motivated by this perceived lack of cooperation.
The situation has taken an even more concerning turn with recent threats being directed toward Mumbai, indicating the gang's intentions to expand their campaign of intimidation back to Indian soil. This development has prompted heightened security concerns among Bollywood personalities and business establishments with international connections.
Growing International Criminal Nexus
This case has exposed the deepening connections between Indian criminal networks and international operations. The ability of gang members to coordinate attacks on foreign soil from India demonstrates a sophisticated level of organization and communication that poses significant challenges to law enforcement agencies worldwide.
The Delhi Police's successful intervention in this international case marks a crucial step in combating cross-border criminal activities. However, it also underscores the urgent need for enhanced cooperation between Indian and international law enforcement agencies to address the growing threat posed by these transnational criminal networks.
As investigations continue, authorities are working to identify and apprehend additional individuals connected to these attacks, while also assessing the potential security threats to other high-profile individuals and establishments both in India and abroad.
