The anti-corruption wing of Prayagraj unit made a significant arrest on Monday, catching a government employee red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 8,000. The accused, identified as AK Mishra, is a resident of Varanasi. The arrest took place near the Zero Road bus department office, where a 13-member team had laid a trap to apprehend the public servant.
Details of the Operation
Acting on a complaint, the anti-corruption sleuths meticulously planned the operation. The complainant had alleged that Mishra was demanding money to update his service book and other official records. The team, led by senior officials, set up the trap and caught Mishra in the act of accepting the bribe amount.
Legal Proceedings Initiated
Following the arrest, the anti-corruption wing has initiated legal proceedings against Mishra. He has been booked under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. The authorities are further investigating to determine if there were any other individuals involved in the corrupt practice.
