Mohali: In a tragic incident, the Govt Railway Police (GRP) has taken legal action by filing a case against the business partner of a local property dealer on charges of abetment to suicide. This development follows a formal complaint lodged by the grieving family of the deceased, Shavinder Kumar Dhiman, a resident of Phase 11 in Mohali.

Details of the Suicide Incident

Shavinder Kumar Dhiman allegedly ended his life by jumping in front of the Paschim Express train near Kambala village in Mohali on Saturday. The GRP, upon receiving the complaint, swiftly initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

Family Allegations and Investigation

According to GRP investigating officer, ASI Sugreev Rana, the case was registered based on statements provided by Dhiman's family members. The family has alleged that Shavinder suffered significant financial losses in his business ventures and was under severe mental stress due to ongoing disputes with his business partner. They claim that these factors collectively drove him to take such an extreme and irreversible step.

Legal Proceedings and Current Status

The GRP has officially registered the case under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Sirhind GRP police station. Officials have confirmed that the allegations are currently under thorough investigation to ascertain the full extent of the partner's involvement and any potential culpability.

ASI Rana further reported that after a postmortem examination, Dhiman's body was handed over to his family for last rites. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the case, and the investigation remains ongoing to gather more evidence and statements.
