Ahmedabad: It has been three weeks since the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) declared the Class X results, yet students have not received their original marksheets. Officials attribute the delay to changes in the marksheet's format and design. Typically, marksheets are distributed within a week through schools, but this time the process has been stalled.
Impact on Students and Admissions
The delay is causing significant inconvenience for students seeking admission to diploma and other post-SSC courses. Online registration for diploma admissions has already begun, and uploading documents such as marksheets and school leaving certificates is mandatory. Without their marksheets, students are unable to complete their applications. Sources indicate that students in rural areas face greater hardships, as they must repeatedly visit their schools for updates.
Criticism from Academics
Academics have criticized the delay, calling it unacceptable in the digital age. They suggest that the board should ensure marksheets are ready by the time results are declared to avoid such inefficiencies. Students and parents have urged the board to expedite the process.
Previous Instance with Class XII
This is not the first time such a delay has occurred. For Class XII, the board announced results on May 4, but students received their marksheets only on May 23. The current delay for Class X has now exceeded that timeline, causing further frustration.
The board has not yet provided a revised timeline for distribution. Meanwhile, students continue to wait, with admission deadlines looming.
