Forest Officer's Affair Preceded Family Murder
A senior forest officer in Gujarat stands accused of murdering his entire family in a shocking case that has revealed details of an extramarital relationship as the possible motive. 39-year-old Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) Sailesh Bachu Khambhla was arrested by Bhavnagar Police on November 17 for allegedly killing his wife and two minor children.
Gruesome Details of the Crime
According to police investigations, the tragedy unfolded on November 5 when Khambhla allegedly suffocated his 42-year-old wife Nayana, 13-year-old daughter, and 9-year-old son by putting a pillow over their faces. The officer then reportedly buried their bodies in makeshift graves behind his official residential quarters in Bhavnagar.
The First Information Report (FIR) filed at Bharatnagar police station describes how Khambhla placed stones on the bodies before putting them in six-foot-deep holes filled with water. He allegedly covered the victims with a door and blanket before having the holes filled with sand in an attempt to conceal the evidence.
Affair with Staff Member Emerges as Key Motive
Police investigation has uncovered that Khambhla was involved in an extramarital relationship with an unmarried woman staff member. Inspector N H Qureshi stated, "Primarily, the motive of killing his family appears to be an affair with a staff member. He was so enamoured by the relationship that he began to feel his wife was a disturbance in his life."
The staff member in question has claimed complete ignorance about Khambhla's alleged plans to murder his family. Police are still investigating whether she had any involvement in the crime, though she maintains she had no prior knowledge of the officer's intentions.
Khambhla, who originally hails from Surat, remains in police custody as the investigation continues to uncover more details about this tragic case that has shaken the forest department and local community.
