Gujarat Man Brutally Stabbed to Death at Maharashtra Highway Lay-By
A shocking incident of violence has unfolded on the national highway in Maharashtra, resulting in the tragic death of a young man from Gujarat. The victim, identified as Vimal Satish Agrawat (30), a resident of Gandhigram in Rajkot, Gujarat, was found stabbed to death near a truck lay-by at Bharwadi bridge in Teosa. The discovery was made on Friday morning, sending waves of alarm through the local community.
Details of the Fatal Night
According to police reports, Vimal Agrawat and his colleague arrived at the truck lay-by near Bharwadi bridge on a two-wheeler on Thursday night. They stopped at the location, presumably to rest for the night. However, the situation took a grim turn the following morning when Vimal's body was discovered in a bloodied state, bearing multiple stab wounds. His colleague was conspicuously absent from the scene, prompting immediate concerns about his whereabouts.
Police Investigation and Evidence Collection
Teosa station officer Gopal Upadhyay and local crime branch inspector Kiran Wankhade swiftly responded to the scene to conduct a thorough investigation. The police team seized several critical pieces of evidence, including:
- A knife suspected to be the murder weapon
- A bag containing a mobile phone
- A two-wheeler number plate
- Clothing items
- An Aadhaar card
- The two-wheeler on which the victim and his colleague had arrived
Vimal Agrawat's identity was confirmed through his mobile phone and the documents found at the scene. Station officer Upadhyay stated, "The victim's identity is confirmed, and his relatives have been informed. The watchman at the location reported that Vimal and his colleague stopped there for the night. The colleague is currently missing, and we are actively searching for him."
Ongoing Search and Legal Proceedings
The police have registered a case against an unknown accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. The investigation is progressing with multiple angles being explored:
- Review of CCTV footage from the vicinity to trace movements and identify suspects
- Intensive efforts to locate the missing colleague, who may hold crucial information about the incident
- Forensic analysis of the collected evidence to establish the sequence of events
The case highlights concerns about safety at highway rest stops and lay-bys, particularly during nighttime hours. Authorities are urging travelers to exercise caution and report any suspicious activities immediately.
