Major Prohibition Raid in Gujarat Seizes Liquor Worth Rs 38.8 Lakh
In a significant crackdown on illegal liquor trade, the State Monitoring Cell (SMC) executed a targeted prohibition raid in Gujarat's Aravalli district, resulting in the confiscation of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) valued at approximately Rs 38.8 lakh. The operation, which unfolded over April 20-21, targeted a hotel parking area under the jurisdiction of the Tintoi police station, marking a decisive move against illicit alcohol distribution networks.
Substantial Seizures and Arrest Made During Operation
Officials reported that the raid led to the recovery of a staggering 6,312 bottles of IMFL, highlighting the scale of the illegal operation. Beyond the liquor, authorities seized additional assets including a vehicle worth Rs 15 lakh, covering materials valued at Rs 3.74 lakh, a mobile phone priced at Rs 10,000, and cash amounting to Rs 1,150. The cumulative value of all seized property is estimated at Rs 57.7 lakh, underscoring the financial magnitude of the bust.
One individual from Haryana was apprehended at the scene and subsequently transferred to Tintoi police custody for detailed interrogation. Police have identified three other persons as wanted in connection with the case: two alleged suppliers hailing from Mewat in Haryana and one receiver based in Vadodara. An offence has been formally registered under pertinent sections of the Prohibition Act, with ongoing investigations focused on tracing the absconding suspects and dismantling the broader supply chain involved in this illicit activity.
Ongoing Efforts to Curb Illegal Liquor Trade
The raid underscores the persistent efforts by Gujarat authorities to enforce prohibition laws and combat the illegal liquor market. The State Monitoring Cell's proactive measures aim to disrupt such networks, which often operate covertly to evade detection. Further investigative steps are being taken to uncover the full extent of the supply network and bring all involved parties to justice, reinforcing the state's commitment to maintaining law and order in this domain.
