Armed Gang Strikes Dry Fruit Wholesaler in Tohana, Loots Rs 1.5 Lakh at Gunpoint

In a brazen daylight robbery, armed assailants targeted a dry fruit wholesale shop in Tohana, Hisar district, on Wednesday evening, making off with approximately Rs 1.5 lakh in cash. The criminals, who arrived on a motorcycle, brandished a pistol, assaulted an employee, and fired gunshots while escaping, leaving the local community in a state of panic.

Details of the Terrifying Incident

According to police reports, three unidentified youths rode a Hero Honda Splendor motorcycle to Gaurav Trading Company, a wholesale dry fruit establishment located on Dangra Road. Upon arrival, they immediately brandished a pistol and demanded cash from the shop owner, Dheeraj Mehta.

The assailants proceeded to loot around Rs 1.5 lakh from the shop's cash box. During the robbery, shop employee Karamjeet, who was working outside, was assaulted with the butt of the pistol, sustaining injuries to his hand. He was subsequently taken for medical treatment.

Gang Threats and Police Response

As they fled the scene, the robbers fired gunshots at the shop, intensifying the fear among bystanders. They also threatened the shopkeeper with further consequences, claiming to be members of a criminal gang and warning they would return the next day.

DSP Umed Singh, along with teams from the CIA and city police, swiftly arrived at the location and launched a comprehensive investigation. In response to the severity of the crime, four dedicated police teams have been formed to track down the remaining suspects.

Political Figures Visit the Scene

The incident drew attention from local political leaders, with former Panchayat minister and BJP leader Devendra Babli, along with former agriculture minister and Tohana MLA Paramveer Singh, visiting the shop. They interacted with the victim, Dheeraj Mehta, to understand the circumstances and offer support.

Ongoing Investigation and Arrest

Police have confirmed the arrest of one person in connection with the case and suspect the involvement of an organized criminal gang. DSP Umed Singh stated, "The suspects claimed links with a gang. Efforts are on to nab the others at the earliest." The investigation continues as authorities work to identify and apprehend the remaining accused individuals.
