Gurgaon Minor Allegedly Raped and Impregnated by Neighbour; Accused Flees
A deeply disturbing case has emerged from Gurgaon, where a 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped and impregnated by her neighbour in a rented accommodation under the jurisdiction of the Sector 10 police station. The survivor, a Class 8 student at a government school, is reportedly two weeks pregnant, according to sources familiar with the investigation.
Details of the Accused and the Incident
The accused, a 19-year-old native of Uttar Pradesh, worked as a helper in the same company as the survivor's mother. He lived alone in a rented accommodation near the girl's house, taking advantage of their proximity. After learning about the pregnancy, the man fled the area and has not yet been arrested, with police teams actively searching for him.
The incident is believed to have occurred sometime in January but only came to light on Monday when the girl complained of acute pain and nausea. Initially, a private doctor treated her for nausea, but as the pain persisted, she was taken to a government hospital. There, doctors discovered the pregnancy and immediately informed the police, setting the legal process in motion.
Police Action and Legal Proceedings
The accused has been booked under Section 6 (aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act at the Sector 10 police station. An officer involved in the case revealed that the girl was alone at home when the accused entered. He reportedly threatened her with dire consequences if she disclosed the assault, but the pregnancy eventually exposed the crime.
The survivor is currently undergoing medical treatment and recorded her statement before a magistrate late Tuesday evening. In her account, she stated that the accused raped her twice on the same day. Following the incident, the Child Welfare Committee was notified, and the girl has been provided with counselling to support her through this traumatic experience.
Family Background and Initial Reluctance
The survivor comes from a large family, with five siblings. Her father, a native of Bihar, works as a labourer in the area. Sources indicate that the girl's mother was initially hesitant to lodge a formal complaint and considered taking her daughter to their hometown. However, after discussions with police, the family decided to pursue the case, ensuring that justice is sought for the minor.
A police officer commented on the situation, noting, "The victim is not aware of her condition. The accused is absconding, and our teams are already raiding his possible hideouts. We will arrest him soon." The investigation continues as authorities work to apprehend the suspect and gather further evidence.
