In a significant crackdown ahead of the Holi festival, Gurgaon police issued a staggering 2,720 traffic challans in a single day. The enforcement drive, spearheaded by Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajesh Mohan, was specifically designed to enhance road safety and ensure smooth traffic flow during the festive period.

Traffic police data revealed a comprehensive list of violations that were penalized during the operation. The highest number of challans, totaling 797, were issued for improper lane changes during the March 2 crackdown. This highlights a major focus on disciplined driving behavior.
Other notable violations included:
- 217 motorists were challaned for wrong-side driving.
- 200 cases were recorded for triple riding on two-wheelers.
- 175 vehicles faced penalties for wrong parking.
- 146 drivers were fined for operating vehicles without number plates or high security registration plates (HSRP).
Additional enforcement actions targeted 80 vehicles with illegal black film, 50 instances of drunk driving, 24 cases of using mobile phones while driving, 11 for dangerous driving, seven for noise pollution, and four for overspeeding.

To execute this extensive drive, police announced the installation of 37 special nakas across various zones of the city. According to police spokesperson Sandeep Turan, the distribution included nine nakas each in the West and East zones, five in the South zone, and 14 in the Manesar zone.
These checkpoints were established for intensive vehicle inspections, with authorities emphasizing that strict enforcement would continue against all violators. Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Gaurav Rajpurohit chaired a security review meeting, directing all station house officers and police post in-charges to take firm action against criminals, anti-social elements, hooligans, and those driving under the influence of intoxicants.

Beyond traffic management, special security arrangements were implemented to maintain law and order during Holi celebrations. Police identified sensitive areas and fortified them with sufficient personnel. Additional force was deployed for patrolling in crowded and sensitive locations, with adequate traffic personnel stationed to ensure organized vehicular movement.
Deployment was also ordered at public places such as malls, cinema halls, bus stands, and railway stations. Officers received instructions to act against motorcycle-borne miscreants indulging in rash riding and hooliganism. Given that theft and snatching gangs often become active during festive occasions, SHOs and chowki in-charges were directed to intensify patrolling in their respective areas.
Zero-Tolerance Policy on Social Media and Communal Harmony
In a modern twist to festival policing, Gurgaon police activated a 24x7 monitoring mechanism to track social media platforms. This round-the-clock surveillance aims to curb hate speech and inflammatory content. Officials have underlined a zero-tolerance policy, warning that any individual found posting such material will face criminal proceedings to prevent disturbances to communal harmony during Holi.
