Auto Driver Fatally Injured in Gurgaon Expressway Collision
A tragic accident on the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway resulted in the death of a 44-year-old auto driver early Sunday morning. The incident occurred near Jharsa Chowk at approximately 5 am, when a car collided with the three-wheeler from behind.
Details of the Fatal Crash
The victim, identified as Naval Mahto, a resident of Trilokpuri in Delhi, was transporting passengers from Anand Vihar to Gurgaon at the time of the accident. The impact of the collision caused the auto to overturn, leading to injuries for Mahto and several passengers. One passenger, Suresh, immediately rushed Mahto to a government hospital in Sector 10, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
Police have yet to identify the driver or registration details of the car involved. Following the incident, Mahto's uncle, Alakhdev Mahto, approached the authorities to demand action against the unidentified driver. Law enforcement officials inspected the accident site, where the damaged auto was found on the service lane, and the body was shifted for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
Second Hit-and-Run Incident in Gurgaon
In a separate and equally distressing event, a 37-year-old man lost his life in a hit-and-run accident on the service road near Cloud Nine Hospital in Sector 57. This incident occurred at around 12 pm on the same day. Police responded promptly after receiving information, transporting the injured man to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The victim, who had been living in rented accommodation in Udyog Vihar, has not been fully identified in reports.
Legal Actions and Ongoing Investigations
Cases have been registered at Sector 40 and Sector 56 police stations under sections 106 (death by negligence) and 281 (rash driving) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Authorities are actively investigating both incidents to apprehend the responsible drivers and ensure justice for the victims. The police are reviewing evidence from the accident sites and witness statements to piece together the events leading to these fatalities.
These back-to-back accidents highlight ongoing road safety concerns in Gurgaon, particularly on busy expressways and service lanes. Residents and commuters are urged to exercise caution while driving, especially during early morning and midday hours when visibility and traffic conditions can vary. The local community has expressed shock and grief over the loss of lives, calling for stricter enforcement of traffic laws to prevent such tragedies in the future.
