Tragic Accident Claims Life of Biryani Seller in Gurgaon
A 41-year-old biryani seller lost his life after a canter truck allegedly rammed into the motorcycle he was riding pillion on near Shiv Temple in Sector 93, Gurgaon, on March 4. The incident has left the local community in shock and raised concerns about road safety in the area.
Details of the Fatal Collision
The deceased, identified as Rajeev Jha, was a native of Mainpuri district in Uttar Pradesh and had been residing in Baskushla village in Manesar. According to police reports, Rajendra Singh of Baskushla was operating his motorcycle, traveling from Hayatpur village towards his home with Jha as the pillion rider.
As they approached the temple vicinity in Sector 93, a canter vehicle is alleged to have struck the motorcycle from behind. The impact caused both individuals to fall violently onto the road. Singh landed on the unpaved section of the divider, escaping with minor injuries. However, Jha suffered severe trauma to his head and legs, leading to critical condition.
Medical Response and Fatal Outcome
Both victims were initially rushed to a private hospital located in Sector 90 for emergency treatment. Due to the gravity of his injuries, Jha's family later transferred him to GTB Hospital in Delhi in hopes of better medical care. Tragically, despite these efforts, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment on Thursday.
Police authorities revealed that they had initially received information about an injured person being admitted to the hospital. Upon arrival to record his statement, they discovered Jha had already been shifted and was in no condition to communicate.
Legal Actions and Investigation
Following a formal written complaint filed by Rajendra Singh on Thursday, the Sector 10-A police station registered a case against the unidentified driver of the canter truck. The charges have been filed under sections 281, pertaining to rash driving, and 106, concerning causing death by negligence, of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
This incident underscores ongoing issues with road safety and traffic management in Gurgaon, prompting calls for stricter enforcement of driving regulations and improved infrastructure to prevent such tragedies in the future.
