Gurgaon Hotel Staff Arrested for Brutal Murder of Jharkhand Man Seeking Employment

In a shocking incident in Gurgaon, two staff members of a hotel located near the railway station were apprehended by police on Thursday for the alleged murder of a 41-year-old man from Jharkhand. The victim, identified as Anand Goswami, was staying at Basant Hotel while searching for work opportunities in the city.

Details of the Accused and Motive

The arrested individuals were named as Inderjeet, a 23-year-old cleaner originally from Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh, and Arvind, a 35-year-old who worked occasionally as a cook at the establishment. According to police investigations, the men targeted Goswami after observing that he was a habitual drinker and often carried cash with him.

Police revealed that Inderjeet specifically needed money to fund his sister's upcoming wedding, which allegedly drove him to plan the theft. An officer stated, "Inderjeet initially intended to steal Goswami's money and mobile phone to access funds. On the night of March 10-11, after the victim fell asleep following heavy drinking, Inderjeet entered his room and took his mobile phone, planning to transfer money."

Sequence of Events Leading to the Fatal Assault

The situation escalated when Goswami woke up and discovered Inderjeet in his room, demanding the return of his phone. A heated argument broke out after Inderjeet asked for the phone's password to unlock it. During this dispute, Inderjeet physically assaulted the victim. Later that same night, he called Arvind for assistance, and together they subjected Goswami to further brutal beating.

Goswami sustained severe injuries from the assault and tragically died in the hotel room. The two accused then left his body behind and fled the scene to evade capture.

Discovery of the Crime and Police Investigation

Police received information about the incident around 8:30 AM on Wednesday when a hotel staff member entered the room to clean it and found a man lying in a pool of blood. A team from the Sector 5 police station promptly arrived at Basant Hotel, took custody of Goswami's body, and initiated a thorough investigation.

Authorities reviewed CCTV footage from the hotel, which clearly showed both accused individuals escaping after the crime. This evidence led to the launch of a manhunt, resulting in their arrest from Sector 5. An FIR was officially registered based on a complaint filed by Goswami's brother-in-law, ensuring legal proceedings could commence.

The case highlights concerns about safety in budget accommodations and the vulnerabilities faced by migrant workers seeking employment in urban centers. Police continue to investigate any potential accomplices or additional motives behind this tragic incident.
