Gurgaon Man Dies by Suicide After Family Dispute Over Alcohol Habits
Gurgaon labourer dies by suicide after family arguments

A 43-year-old man from Madhya Pradesh, working as a labourer in Gurgaon, died by suicide late Monday night in Sector 10. The tragic incident followed persistent family conflicts reportedly centred on his alcohol consumption.

Two Days of Conflict Culminate in Tragedy

Kanhai Bansal, a native of Madhya Pradesh employed at a local farmhouse, was locked in constant conflict with his family for two days due to his excessive drinking, according to police accounts. The situation escalated on Sunday when, after a heated argument, he left his home and did not return until the following morning.

His return on Monday morning sparked another fierce argument with his wife, leading him to depart once again. Later that afternoon, Bansal's wife and their elder son, who also works as a labourer, spotted him in a nearby market. They urged him to join them while they purchased household groceries, but he refused to engage and went his own way.

Body Found Near Residence

Around 11 PM on Monday night, the situation took a grim turn when Bansal's body was discovered hanging from a tree on a deserted stretch near his home in Sector 10. A team from the Sector 10A police station promptly arrived at the location and took custody of the body.

Officers initiated inquest proceedings under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). After completing the necessary legal formalities, the body was handed over to his grieving family. Bansal is survived by his wife, three sons, and two daughters.

Police Investigation Points to Emotional Distress

Police stated that their preliminary inquiry indicates the suicide was driven by emotional distress triggered by ongoing family discord. Authorities have recorded statements from family members and are speaking to relatives and neighbours to determine if any other factors contributed to the extreme step.

However, the investigation has so far ruled out any foul play. The focus remains on the personal and familial strife that preceded the incident, highlighting the severe impact of domestic disputes and substance-related tensions.
