Gurgaon Finance Manager Faces FIR for Alleged Rs 1.13 Crore Embezzlement

In a significant corporate fraud case, Gurgaon police have registered an FIR against a senior manager in the finance department of a private company for allegedly misappropriating over Rs 1.13 crore. The accused, identified as Rahul Kumar, is accused of transferring funds from the company's accounts to his personal accounts over a four-month period, exploiting his position of trust.

Details of the Alleged Financial Misconduct

The accused was employed with Moneyboxx Finance Limited, located in DLF Cyber City, Gurgaon. In his role, he had comprehensive access to the firm's banking systems and fund transfer mechanisms, which police say he abused between October 2025 and January 2026 to execute unauthorised transactions.

The complaint, filed on February 18 by the company's representative, Kumud Kumar, alleges that Rahul used his administrative privileges to bypass internal financial controls. He systematically diverted company funds into his own accounts, with the fraud only coming to light during routine reconciliation processes that flagged suspicious transaction patterns.

Sophisticated Scheme to Evade Detection

Investigations reveal that the misappropriated amount totals Rs 1,13,33,000. In what appears to be an attempt to avoid raising alarms, the accused reportedly deposited small amounts back into the company's accounts—specifically Rs 2 lakh in October and Rs 5 lakh in November. This tactic was seemingly designed to mask the larger fraudulent withdrawals.

Police further discovered that Rahul utilized the siphoned money for futures and options trading, indicating a calculated misuse of corporate funds for personal financial speculation.

Admission of Guilt and Subsequent Flight

When confronted by company officials, the accused initially admitted to the fraud in writing. He signed an undertaking acknowledging his liability and promising to repay the embezzled amount. Following this admission, he deposited Rs 10 lakh in multiple instalments during January and February of this year.

However, the situation took a dramatic turn when Rahul subsequently became absconding. He is currently in possession of the company's laptop and official ID card, according to police statements. The complainant has informed authorities that the company is conducting a thorough review of his entire employment period and will report any additional instances of misappropriation if discovered.

Legal Proceedings and Investigation Transfer

Based on the detailed complaint, a formal case has been registered at the DLF Phase 2 police station. The charges fall under Section 316(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), pertaining to criminal breach of trust. Given the financial complexity and scale of the alleged offense, the matter has been transferred to the Economic Offences Wing (EOW-1) for specialized investigation.

This case highlights ongoing challenges in corporate governance and internal financial controls within private companies, particularly in sectors with significant fund flows. The Economic Offences Wing is expected to delve deeper into the transaction trails and digital footprints to establish the full extent of the financial misconduct.
