In a disturbing early morning discovery, the charred body of a young man was found near the Fazilpur-Sector 48 corridor in Gurgaon on Tuesday. Police have identified the victim as a 28-year-old tenant originally from Uttar Pradesh.
Discovery of the Body and Police Response
Local residents first noticed a fire and a body lying nearby in the early hours, prompting them to alert the authorities. A police team from Badshahpur station arrived at the scene around 3:30 am after receiving the information. The area where the body was discovered showed remnants of a small fire, which preliminary investigation suggests might have been lit for warmth during the cold night.
The victim has been identified as Beeru, a native of Jilesar village in the Etah district of Uttar Pradesh. At the time of the incident, he was living as a tenant in the Fazilpur ki Dhani locality. Police described him as having a thin build, a dark complexion, and a height of approximately 5 feet 2 inches.
Scene of the Incident and Initial Theories
Officials reported that the body was found naked. Key items found near the body included a half-filled liquor bottle, a water bottle, and a plastic material. Based on the initial evidence at the scene, investigators suspect that the man, possibly under the influence of alcohol, may have fallen asleep close to the fire. It is theorized that he suffered fatal burns after coming into contact with the flames, which might have intensified unexpectedly.
The body was subsequently moved to a mortuary for the mandatory 72-hour period. By late Tuesday evening, police had managed to trace his identity through diligent local enquiries in the Fazilpur ki Dhani area where he resided.
Ongoing Investigation and Awaited Reports
While the prima facie evidence points towards an accidental death, Gurgaon police are leaving no stone unturned. Officers are currently speaking to residents of the locality to piece together the victim's last known movements and understand the exact sequence of events that led to the fire becoming lethal.
A senior police officer stated that all possible angles are being probed. However, the initial appearance strongly suggests death resulted from accidental burns. The final and conclusive cause of death will be established only after the post-mortem report is received, which is currently awaited by the investigating team.
