A horrific incident unfolded in Gurgaon's Surya Vihar Colony on Monday, where a 30-year-old woman allegedly killed her 2-year-old daughter before attempting to take her own life. The mother, identified as Neha, used a pair of scissors to slit her throat, leaving her in critical condition, while the child, Anika, was declared dead upon arrival at a private hospital.
Discovery of the Tragedy
The grim scene was discovered around 4 PM when Adhaar Sharma, Neha's husband and an employee of a private firm, returned home from work. Finding the house locked from the inside and receiving no response to repeated knocks, Sharma, with the assistance of neighbours, forced the door open. Inside, he found Neha lying unconscious with a deep neck wound and their daughter Anika in a pool of blood, showing multiple injury marks on her body.
Police Investigation and Suspected Motive
Preliminary investigations by the Sector 9 police station point to a domestic dispute as the likely catalyst for this extreme act. While Adhaar Sharma claimed that everything seemed normal when he left for work on Monday morning, authorities are probing into frequent marital conflicts between the couple. Police spokesperson Sandeep Turan stated, "We are looking into the matter from all angles. The exact reason behind the murder will be ascertained post questioning or interrogation of the suspect."
Background of the Family
Adhaar and Neha Sharma, who hail from UP's Bijnor, got married four years ago and had recently shifted to Gurgaon earlier this year. They were residing in a rented house on the second floor of a building in Surya Vihar Colony. Police are currently questioning neighbours and relatives to determine if there was any premeditation behind the act.

A murder case has been registered against Neha at the Sector 9-A police station. As she remains hospitalized in critical condition, authorities plan to arrest and interrogate her upon discharge. Sandeep Turan confirmed, "The accused, Neha, is currently admitted to the hospital. After being discharged from the hospital, she will be arrested and interrogated."
