Gurgaon Murder-Suicide: Man Strangles Wife, Dies by Suicide in Sector 9
A tragic incident unfolded in Gurgaon's Sector 9 late Sunday evening, where a 33-year-old man allegedly strangled his wife to death before dying by suicide in their rented residence. The victims have been identified as Deepak Kumar, 33, and his 28-year-old wife, Sonam Bai, originally from Chawar Colony on Khudanpuri Road in Alwar, Rajasthan, who had been living in Gurgaon for work.
Discovery by Minor Son
The horrifying scene was discovered by the couple's 10-year-old son, who was playing in another room during the incident. According to police reports, the child entered the bedroom and found his father's body hanging. Unaware of the violence that had occurred, he immediately rushed out to inform a neighbour, who then alerted the authorities.
Police Investigation and Findings
Upon arrival, police found both bodies in the room. A forensic team, along with Sector 9-A police, conducted a thorough inspection of the scene. The victims were taken to a local hospital, where they were declared dead. A preliminary examination revealed strangulation marks on Sonam Bai's neck, confirming she had been strangled. Investigators stated that a heated domestic dispute on Sunday night appears to be the primary motive behind this suspected murder-suicide.
Ongoing Probe and Post-Mortem
The bodies have been sent to a local mortuary for a post-mortem examination, scheduled for Monday afternoon. Police are conducting a detailed probe into the circumstances leading to the incident, with further updates expected as the investigation progresses. This case highlights the severe consequences of domestic conflicts, leaving a minor child orphaned in its wake.
