The Haryana State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau has initiated legal proceedings by filing a First Information Report (FIR) against two officials from the food and supplies department. The accused are District Food and Supplies Controller (DFSC) Ashok Rawat and Sub-Inspector Jaiveer, who are alleged to have demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a ration depot owner in Rewari district.

According to the FIR, registered on March 27, the officials are charged under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and BNS Section 308(2), which pertains to extortion. The complaint was lodged by Mohit, a resident of Nimoth village in Rewari, who operates a ration depot. He reported that his depot was inspected on June 19 last year, resulting in a fine of Rs 2,000. Later, on November 3, when Mohit visited the DFSC's office with his father, Sub-Inspector Jaiveer allegedly demanded Rs 20,000 to ensure that the ration supply to his depot would not be discontinued.
An audio recording reviewed during the investigation revealed that Jaiveer insisted on the payment, claiming he was acting on instructions from a senior officer. This evidence has been crucial in advancing the case, highlighting the systematic nature of the alleged corruption.

Following approvals from the Director General of Police of the Vigilance Bureau, the FIR was formally registered, and a thorough investigation has been launched.
