Gurgaon Salon Worker Succumbs to Injuries After Motorcycle Collision
A tragic road accident in Gurgaon has claimed the life of a young salon worker, highlighting ongoing safety concerns on the city's streets. Siddhu Oran, a 23-year-old native of Jalpaiguri in West Bengal, passed away one day after his motorcycle was struck by another bike near the Sikanderpur Rapid Metro station.
Details of the Fatal Incident
According to police reports and a complaint filed by the victim's mother, Tapsi Oran, Siddhu left for work at a Sector 53 salon on the morning of March 15 but failed to return home that evening. Around 11:30 PM, the family received distressing news from a local hospital that Siddhu had been admitted following a serious accident.
The collision occurred when Siddhu was returning home from work as a pillion rider on a motorcycle driven by Ankit, a resident of Nathupura. As they approached the Sikanderpur Rapid Metro station area, an unidentified motorcyclist allegedly rammed into their vehicle from the side, causing both riders to fall and sustain severe injuries.
Medical Treatment and Police Action
Passersby immediately alerted the police control room, and both victims were rushed to a nearby hospital for initial treatment. Due to the gravity of his injuries, Siddhu was subsequently transferred to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi for advanced medical care. Despite these efforts, he succumbed to his injuries on March 16.
Following his death and based on the formal complaint and medical reports, the DLF Phase 1 police station registered a case under sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (causing death due to negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against the unidentified motorcyclist responsible for the collision.
Broader Context of Road Safety in Gurgaon
This incident underscores the persistent road safety challenges in Gurgaon. In a separate but equally tragic case, a 26-year-old woman named Ragini Rauniyar, who had been on ventilator support since March 8 after an unidentified vehicle hit her bicycle in Sector 90, also succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday.
These back-to-back fatalities have reignited discussions about traffic management, enforcement of driving regulations, and infrastructure improvements needed to prevent such accidents. The police investigation into Siddhu Oran's death continues as authorities search for the unidentified motorcyclist involved in the collision.
Siddhu Oran, who lived in Delhi with his family while working in Gurgaon, represents the many young migrants who contribute to the city's economy while facing daily commutes that can turn perilous. His death serves as a somber reminder of the human cost of road accidents and the urgent need for enhanced safety measures on urban roads.
