Gurgaon Student Alleges Brutal Assault by Live-In Partner

A shocking case of extreme domestic violence has emerged from Gurgaon, where a 19-year-old biotechnology student from Tripura has accused her live-in partner of pouring hand sanitiser on her private parts and setting them on fire. The alleged incident occurred at their rented accommodation in Sector 69, with the victim's mother and lawyer making grave allegations of prolonged physical torture, sexual assault, and attempts on her life.

Mother's Harrowing Account of the Assault

Speaking to news agency ANI, the victim's mother revealed that her daughter made a desperate late-night call on February 16, fearing for her life. "On 16th February at 10pm, my daughter called me and said, 'I don't have time, I will be killed. A man named Shivam has been assaulting me for the last 3 days. He hit me and also burnt me, he will kill me today,'" the mother recounted.

She provided chilling details of the alleged captivity and torture, stating that Shivam had locked her daughter in a room for three consecutive days. "She informed me that Shivam locked her in a room for three days and urinated on her. He also burnt her private parts thrice everyday for the last 3 days. He used a knife and cut her at various places in the body," the mother alleged.

The mother explained that her daughter had come to Gurugram to pursue biotechnology studies and had met the accused, Shivam, through online applications. "Shivam raped my daughter, too. In the guise of marrying her, Shivam did all of this to her. The condition of my daughter is very bad," she added, describing the victim's severe physical and psychological trauma.

Legal Counsel Raises Concerns About Charges

The victim's lawyer, Reena Rai, corroborated the family's account while expressing serious concerns about the legal proceedings. "She was being tortured by her partner. I spoke with her parents and they informed me that he set her private parts on fire using hand sanitiser. He burnt her entire body and did dirty things inside the washroom and did not even let her go out. Somehow, she called her parents," Rai stated.

Rai highlighted a critical discrepancy in the case, noting that while medical examination had confirmed rape, the charges filed at Badshahpur police station were limited to minor injuries. "Her father also confirmed that the medical examination has confirmed rape. But the section filed at the Badshahpur police station is only for minor injuries... This is also an attempt to murder, and rape charges have not been filed," the lawyer emphasized.

Graphic Details of Physical Trauma

Describing the victim's condition in disturbing detail, Rai revealed: "Her face was completely swollen from the beating, and her hair was completely cut off... They burned her private parts and inserted something inside. That's what I heard. Her father was saying, it's like the Nirbhaya case... The victim's mother is not talking at all right now. Her father also seems completely unstable."

The reference to the infamous 2012 Nirbhaya gang-rape case underscores the severity of the alleged brutality and its impact on the victim's family.

Police Investigation Underway

Local authorities have registered a case based on the allegations and are conducting a thorough investigation. The Badshahpur police station is examining all aspects of the complaint, including the nature of injuries, medical reports, and witness statements. Further details about the progress of the probe and potential additional charges are awaited as investigators continue their work.

This case has raised serious questions about domestic violence in live-in relationships, the adequacy of legal protections for victims, and the responsiveness of law enforcement agencies to such extreme allegations. The victim remains under medical care while her family seeks justice for what they describe as systematic torture and attempted murder.
