Tragic Early Morning Crash Claims Life of 22-Year-Old in Gurgaon

A devastating road accident in the early hours of Saturday resulted in the death of a young man and left his friend with grievous injuries. The incident occurred on Southern Peripheral Road near the American Express building in Sector 74, Gurgaon.

Details of the Fatal Collision

According to police reports, the crash took place around 3:30 AM. Chirag Sharma, a 22-year-old BA student from Palam Colony in Delhi, and his friend Harsh Sharma were returning home in a Maruti Swift after watching a movie in Gurgaon. The two had arrived in the city around 9:30 PM on Friday for the film outing.

Police stated that a truck, allegedly being driven at high speed and negligently, rammed into their car while attempting to overtake it. Both vehicles were traveling from Vatika Chowk towards Dwarka at the time of the incident.

Severe Impact and Aftermath

The impact was so severe that the Swift was struck on the left side, leaving the car mangled and debris from both vehicles scattered across the road. The truck also sustained significant damage in the collision.

Passersby immediately alerted the police control room and rushed the injured to Artemis Hospital in Sector 51. Despite medical efforts, Harsh Sharma succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Chirag Sharma remains hospitalized, battling serious injuries.

Police Response and Investigation

Teams from the SPR post and Badshapur police station, who were on night patrol, reached the accident spot after receiving information from an emergency response vehicle. "By the time we arrived, the damaged truck and car were at the scene, but the injured had already been taken to hospital," a police officer reported.

A forensic team conducted a thorough inspection of the site as part of the investigation. Police revealed that the truck driver fled the scene after the crash, abandoning the vehicle at the location.

Legal Proceedings and Autopsy

Based on Chirag Sharma's complaint, a case has been registered. Both vehicles involved in the accident have been impounded by authorities for further examination.

The body of Harsh Sharma was sent for autopsy before being handed over to his grieving family. "The exact nature of the injuries will be confirmed after the autopsy report, but he had suffered multiple fatal injuries, including one on the head," an officer stated.

Police are currently examining various aspects of the crash, including the speed of both vehicles, as part of their ongoing investigation into this tragic incident that has left one family mourning and another praying for recovery.
