Gurugram Police Apprehend Man Accused of Rape Under False Marriage Pretext
The Gurugram police have made a significant arrest in a disturbing case of sexual exploitation, detaining 28-year-old Nadeem Khan, a rental broker hailing from Farrukhabad, Uttar Pradesh. Khan stands accused of allegedly raping a woman repeatedly over several months, having lured her with deceptive promises of marriage.
Victim's Complaint and Investigation Details
According to official reports, the victim first encountered Khan on a popular matrimonial website. She subsequently filed a formal complaint at the Kherki Daula police station in December of last year. In her statement, she detailed how Khan enticed her to a flat located in Sector 86 of Gurugram, where he purportedly subjected her to repeated sexual assaults over an extended period before abruptly cutting off all communication.
Investigations conducted by the Gurugram police have uncovered a troubling pattern. It was revealed that Khan systematically targeted women through various matrimonial platforms. Furthermore, he was already a wanted individual in a similar prior case, with authorities having announced a reward of Rs 5,000 for information leading to his capture.
Arrest and Police Statements
The arrest was executed on Tuesday, following which law enforcement officials successfully recovered a mobile phone believed to have been used in the commission of the crime. A city court has since ordered Khan to be placed under a two-day police remand for further interrogation.
A spokesperson for the Gurugram police provided additional insights, stating, "During preliminary interrogation, it was revealed that Nadeem confessed to contacting women through matrimonial sites and sexually exploiting them on the pretext of marriage."
