Gutka Sahib Desecrated in Mohali, Locals Block Road

A case of alleged desecration emerged in Sohana village of Mohali on Wednesday when damaged pages of the Gutka Sahib were discovered near Mata Gujri Devi Gurudwara, located close to Gurudwara Singh Shaheedan, Sohana. Following the incident, local residents blocked Mohali's Airport Road, demanding swift action against the culprits.

Incident Details

In his complaint to the police, Kharar resident Charanjit Singh stated that on Tuesday at 11:10 PM, he and Manpreet Singh were returning home on his motorcycle after performing service at Gurudwara Singh Shaheedan, Sohana. As they passed in front of Mata Gujri Devi Gurudwara, they noticed that pages of the Gutka Sahib had been desecrated and were scattered on Airport Road. The duo collected the pages and informed the congregation at Gurudwara Singh Shaheedan, who assisted in preserving the sacred texts.

Charanjit Singh alleged that the desecration was carried out by unknown individuals and demanded legal action once they are identified. Protesters claimed the act was deliberately intended to disturb communal harmony in the area.

Police Response

In view of the tension, Mohali DSP (City II) Harsimran Singh Bal arrived at the scene. He pacified the protesters and assured them that the police were treating the matter with utmost seriousness. The DSP confirmed that an FIR had been registered under Section 299 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against unknown individuals.
