In a shocking incident in Haridwar, a 21-year-old man was allegedly killed by his 20-year-old acquaintance after resisting a sexual assault bid. The tragic event occurred while the two were sleeping at a parking area, as confirmed by police on Thursday.

The victim and the accused, both ragpickers, had met approximately 15 days prior to the incident. According to police reports, the accused, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, became enraged when his friend resisted his advances. In a violent outburst, he attacked the victim repeatedly with a stone, causing fatal injuries.
The accused was arrested the next morning following a thorough analysis of CCTV footage from the area, stated the Station House Officer (SHO). The investigation revealed that the two had consumed liquor together before the assault attempt.

During interrogation, the accused admitted to attempting to sexually assault his acquaintance after drinking. Police are currently working to establish the victim's identity, as the accused did not know his name.
