Rohtak: Days after the devastating fire at D-Park market that claimed three lives and damaged several commercial establishments, Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini on Monday visited the site and announced financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh ex gratia each for the families of the deceased, along with relief measures for affected traders.
During the visit, Saini met bereaved families and traders and reviewed the damage caused by the blaze, which killed Aman Kumar, Rohit Khurana and Kapil Kumar.
The CM said preliminary investigations suggested the fire may have originated in an air-conditioning unit following a short circuit before spreading rapidly to nearby shops.
To help traders recover losses, the government has sanctioned Rs 5 lakh each for eight severely damaged establishments. Owners of two fruit juice outlets will receive Rs 2 lakh each, while affected vendors, kiosk owners and food cart operators will be given Rs 50,000 each.
Saini said the urban local bodies department was conducting a detailed assessment of the damage and that the government would consider additional relief measures based on its report.
