Haryana Human Rights Commission Mandates Strict Road Safety Enforcement

The Haryana Human Rights Commission has issued a directive to authorities, calling for rigorous adherence to road safety laws across the state. The commission emphasized that any negligence in this regard will be dealt with seriously, underscoring the critical need for enhanced public safety measures on roads.

Legal Provisions and Public Awareness

Chairman Justice Lalit Batra highlighted that legal provisions alone are insufficient to curb the rising number of road accidents. He stressed that these laws must be complemented by robust public awareness campaigns and responsible behavior from all road users. According to Justice Batra, simple actions such as wearing helmets, fastening seat belts, avoiding overspeeding, and refraining from driving under the influence of alcohol can save countless lives.

Justice Batra remarked, "Road safety demands discipline and an understanding that roads are a shared space where a moment's carelessness can be life-altering." He pointed out that these measures are not just legal requirements but essential practices for ensuring the well-being of everyone on the road.

Emphasis on Traffic Discipline

Commission member Deep Bhatia reinforced the need for widespread awareness of traffic rules, noting that a driver holds the responsibility for the safety of many others. He stated that careful driving is a reflection of one's character and cited examples of traffic discipline followed in various foreign countries as models to emulate.

Bhatia explained, "A driver's actions impact not only their own safety but also that of passengers, pedestrians, and other motorists. Adopting disciplined driving habits is crucial for preventing accidents and fostering a culture of safety."

Recognition and Community Involvement

On the occasion, Justice Batra honored individuals for their outstanding work in different fields, acknowledging their contributions to society. Students of Milestone School presented a welcome song, adding a community touch to the event.

Those present at the gathering included registrars Ravi Kumar Saundhi and Sanjay Kumar Khanduja, assistant registrar Puneet Arora, DTI head Sameer Saini, advocates PL Bhardwaj and Dharmbir Bhola, Satish Seth, Dr Abhilasha Jain, Dr Vinay, Dinesh Bhardwaj, Annu Priya, Uma Bhardwaj, Narendra Nijhawan, Sonia, Meenakshi Sharma, Kaushal Khetrapal, Deepak Seth, Himanshu, and others.
