Haryanvi singer Masoom Sharma was allegedly assaulted by a group of armed individuals during a wedding function at Agarsen Dharamshala in Julana town, Jind district, according to a complaint filed by his elder brother Vikas.
Incident Details
In his complaint, Vikas, a resident of Brahmanwas village, stated that the incident occurred on the night of July 6 during his cousin sister's wedding. He said he had accompanied Masoom Sharma to meet his sister in a room at the venue. In an adjacent room, some people were allegedly consuming liquor and carrying weapons. They allegedly abused Masoom Sharma.
Escalation and Assault
Vikas stated that a Haryana Police constable accompanying Masoom Sharma tried to intervene, but the situation escalated as the accused allegedly pulled out weapons and assaulted those present. The complainant said Masoom Sharma managed to flee the venue as the accused tried to chase him.
Further Allegations
Vikas further alleged that the accused caught his son, Lakshya Sharma, and assaulted him as well. He also alleged that a youth identified as Kartik threatened to kill the singer and claimed to have links with a criminal gang.
Legal Action
The Julana police station in Jind has registered a case against the accused under Section 25 of the Arms Act, and Sections 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), 126 (wrongful restraint), 287 (negligent conduct with respect to weapons), 296 (obscene acts and abuse in a public place), and 351(2) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
