Three Students Leap to Safety as Fire Ravages Hazaribag Building
A terrifying fire broke out in an under-construction building in Hazaribag on Sunday evening, leading to three students sustaining grievous injuries after they were forced to jump from the third floor to escape the rapidly spreading flames.
The Incident and Rescue Attempt
The blaze originated on the top floor of the structure, located in the Krishnapuri Colony of Matwari mohalla, in an area filled with wooden shuttering. This highly combustible material allowed the fire to intensify quickly. At the time of the incident, a library was operating on the ground floor, where several students were studying.
Upon learning about the fire, two students named Satyam and Pankaj, along with the 12-year-old son of the house owner, bravely rushed upstairs in an attempt to douse the flames. However, their efforts were overwhelmed as the fire grew in strength, trapping them. With no other escape route, the trio made the desperate decision to jump from a window on the third floor to save their lives.
Aftermath and Emergency Response
All three sustained significant injuries from the fall. The 12-year-old child is reported to be in a serious condition. They are currently receiving medical treatment at Hazaribag Sadar Hospital.
While the fire brigade was alerted and personnel reached the spot promptly, their operation faced a critical delay. The main fire tender could not enter the narrow lane leading to the building. Firefighters eventually managed to control the blaze using a smaller fire engine.
Korra police station officer-in-charge Ajeet Kumar confirmed the sequence of events, stating, "The fire was brought under control and the injured trio were sent to the hospital." The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation by the police.
