A 21-year-old man was arrested on Friday for allegedly raping his elder sister in Hazaribag district, police confirmed. The accused, who is currently unemployed, was apprehended within four hours of the complaint being filed against him, according to law enforcement officials.
Incident Details
The 23-year-old survivor, who is a mother to a three-year-old child, stated in her complaint that the accused took advantage of the fact that her husband had left the house on Thursday night. Police officer Deepak Kumar Singh said that a case under Section 64 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered against the accused. Recognizing the gravity of the crime, special teams were deployed and successfully nabbed the perpetrator, Singh stated.
Sequence of Events
The woman had called her younger brother to her house a month ago after the death of their mother. On Thursday night, when her son became ill, her husband went out to bring medicines. During this period, the accused allegedly raped her. Following the incident, the accused fled the village. Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted him.
After a medical examination, the accused was produced before a local court, which sent him to judicial custody. The survivor was also sent for medical evaluation and counselling, police added. The swift action by the authorities ensured that justice was served promptly in this disturbing case.
