Head Constable's Car Kills 5-Year-Old Girl in Avadi

A tragic accident in Avadi claimed the life of a five-year-old girl and left a man seriously injured after a car driven by a police head constable struck them on Thursday night. The deceased has been identified as Dhanya Sara, daughter of Santhakumar, 32, and Ramya, 28, who works at a private bank in Tiruvallur.

Details of the Incident

According to police, Ramya was traveling from Tiruninravur to Tiruvallur on a motorcycle with her daughter and a colleague, Gunasekaran, 35. When they reached Ayathur on the Chennai–Tirupati Bypass Road, the child reportedly felt unwell. Gunasekaran stopped the vehicle, and Ramya took Dhanya a little ahead as she started vomiting.

While Ramya went back to the vehicle to get a water bottle, an approaching car lost control and rammed into Gunasekaran and the child. Dhanya died on the spot, while Gunasekaran sustained serious injuries. Police rushed him to Tiruvallur Government Medical College Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment. The child’s body has been sent for postmortem.

Driver Identified as Head Constable

Police identified the car driver as Vikraman, a head constable attached to Sevvapet police station. He was reportedly traveling with his family towards Tiruvallangadu at the time of the accident. The Poonamallee traffic investigation wing has registered a case and is conducting a thorough investigation into the incident.
