The Government Railway Police (GRP) in Lucknow is yet to ascertain the identity of a headless dismembered body of a woman discovered in the Chhapra-Gomti Nagar Express on Sunday morning. According to an official source at GRP, multiple teams are actively working on the case, but the woman's identity remains unknown. Since identification is pending, the autopsy will be conducted 72 hours after the time of recovery.
Discovery of the Body
The victim's torso was found inside a box, while the limbs were discovered in a heavy-duty cargo bag placed next to the lavatory of the S1 coach. The station director of Gomti Nagar railway station, Ranjeet Sagar, stated: "We received an alert from the sanitation team that an unclaimed box and a cargo bag were lying in the coach. Initially, no one had any idea about the dismembered body of a woman. It was only after the box and bag were taken down to the platform and opened in the presence of GRP and RPF that the railway authorities learned about the body."

GRP officials are scanning footage from stations along the train route to identify the person who carried the body onboard.
