Hisar Court Imposes Life Sentence for 2019 Village Murder Following Drunken Dispute
A local court in Hisar has delivered a significant verdict, sentencing a man to life imprisonment and imposing a fine of Rs 1 lakh for the murder of a villager that occurred nearly six years ago. The case stemmed from a violent altercation that erupted after both individuals had been consuming alcohol together.
Details of the Fatal Incident and Legal Proceedings
The court of Hisar sessions judge Alka Malik convicted Mahabir, also known as Tenna, a resident of Kali Rawan village, for the murder of Naresh. According to the prosecution, the tragic incident unfolded on the night of October 26, 2019, within Kali Rawan village, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Agroha police station. Mahabir and the victim, Naresh, were drinking liquor at Naresh's house when a heated argument broke out between them.
During the altercation, the accused allegedly attacked Naresh with an iron rod and a screwdriver, inflicting severe head injuries. Naresh's cousin, Naveen, later witnessed Mahabir hastily leaving the house and discovered Naresh lying badly injured inside with bleeding wounds on his head and face. The victim succumbed to his injuries shortly after the attack.
Evidence and Investigation Findings
The police conducted a thorough investigation, recovering key evidence from the scene, including an iron rod, a screwdriver, blood-stained bedding, and other articles. A post-mortem examination confirmed that the death resulted from cranio-cerebral injuries caused by blunt force, which proved fatal. The accused was arrested the following day, and blood-stained clothes he wore during the incident were recovered. Forensic analysis detected human blood on these garments, further linking him to the crime.
In delivering the judgment, the court noted that the circumstantial evidence, witness testimony, recovery of weapons, and medical findings formed a complete and unbroken chain, proving the guilt of the accused beyond reasonable doubt. The court concluded that Mahabir murdered Naresh after consuming liquor with him and later inflicted fatal blows during the quarrel.
Court's Final Ruling and Sentencing
Following the conviction, the court sentenced Mahabir to life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 1 lakh. This ruling underscores the legal system's commitment to addressing violent crimes and ensuring justice for victims, even years after the incident occurred. The case highlights the severe consequences of alcohol-fueled violence and the importance of forensic evidence in securing convictions.
