Hisar: Recovered Addicts Share Journeys of Hope Under Police Rehabilitation Drive

In a powerful testament to resilience and reform, several individuals who once battled severe addiction and faced the brink of personal ruin are now reclaiming their lives with renewed purpose. At a special event held in Hisar on Sunday, these recovered addicts shared their transformative journeys, highlighting the impact of Operation Jeevan Jyoti, a pioneering initiative launched by the Fatehabad police that emphasizes rehabilitation alongside traditional enforcement measures.

Personal Stories of Triumph Over Addiction

Young men from various parts of the district, including Virender from Lahli, Chandramohan from Ratia, Gurvinder Singh from Dholu, and Vinod Kumar from Bharpur, among others, spoke candidly about their struggles and the pivotal role of counselling and medical support in breaking free from substance abuse.

Vinod Kumar revealed that he was addicted to pharmaceutical drugs for over 12 years, a period that left his family devastated both financially and emotionally. "My family was shattered—we faced immense hardship on all fronts," he recounted. Today, with the unwavering support of the police team, he has returned to a stable, drug-free life, rebuilding the bonds that were once strained.

Virender shared how what began as casual use quickly spiralled into a debilitating dependency. "There was constant conflict at home, and I felt I was losing all control over my life," he said. He credits the timely intervention under Operation Jeevan Jyoti for providing the guidance and resources needed to rebuild his life from the ground up.

Gurvinder Singh admitted that his addiction had created a deep chasm between him and his family, leading to desperate actions. "I would even sell household items just to sustain my addiction," he confessed. Now rehabilitated, he proudly states that he has regained his dignity and self-respect, fostering a renewed sense of belonging and purpose.

A Shift Towards Reform-Oriented Policing

Superintendent of Police Nikita Khattar emphasized that Operation Jeevan Jyoti represents a significant shift towards a more compassionate, reform-oriented approach in policing. Addressing the youth at the event, she offered words of encouragement: "Never look back. Keep moving forward… we are with you every step of the way." Her message underscored the initiative's commitment to not only curbing addiction but also fostering long-term recovery and societal reintegration.

Officials detailed that the programme is designed with a dual focus: to effectively curb the prevalence of addiction while simultaneously working to restore fractured families and reintegrate individuals back into society as productive members. This holistic strategy aims to address the root causes of substance abuse, offering a beacon of hope for many in the community.

The event in Hisar served as a poignant reminder of the transformative power of support and intervention, showcasing real-life examples of how structured rehabilitation efforts can lead to profound personal and social renewal.
