Hisar Schoolgirl in Critical Condition After Suicide Attempt Following Harassment
A distressing incident has unfolded in a village within the Hansi district of Hisar, where a schoolgirl is currently fighting for her life after allegedly attempting suicide. The minor was rushed to a private hospital and remains in critical condition, according to police reports. This tragic event stems from repeated harassment and threats by local youths, highlighting severe issues of safety and protection for young individuals in the community.
Alleged Harassment and Threats Leading to Crisis
According to family members, the girl had been subjected to stalking and harassment by two youths from the village for several days while she commuted to school. The accused allegedly pressured her into a relationship and issued threats when she refused to comply. Despite efforts by the family to counsel the youths and resolve the matter peacefully, the harassment persisted, escalating the situation and causing immense distress to the victim.
Escalation and Assault Preceding the Attempt
The situation intensified on March 22 when the girl's elder brother confronted the accused, resulting in a scuffle. Later that same day, the accused, along with some associates, allegedly assaulted the brother at the village sports stadium. This violent episode further exacerbated the family's trauma and contributed to the mounting pressure on the young girl, setting the stage for the subsequent tragic event.
Suicide Attempt and Police Action
On the following day, while the girl's mother was at home, the minor attempted to hang herself. Family members intervened just in time, rescuing her and immediately rushing her to a hospital. Doctors have described her condition as critical, underscoring the severity of the incident. In response, the Narnaund police have registered a case against four youths under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and other relevant sections. The Hansi police have assured that the matter is under detailed investigation, with strict action promised against the accused to ensure justice is served.
