Shock in Hisar as Missing Student's Body Found Tied to Motorcycle in Canal

The city of Hisar was plunged into shock and grief on Saturday evening when the body of a 21-year-old student, who had been missing for over a week, was recovered from a canal near Dabda road. The discovery sent shockwaves through the local community, with the circumstances pointing strongly towards foul play.

Gruesome Discovery After Water Level Recedes

The victim, identified as Shivkumar, had been residing with his aunt, Santosh Devi, in New Model Town Extension for the past seven years. According to his aunt, Shivkumar left their home on the evening of January 9 on his motorcycle, stating he was going to purchase groceries. Notably, he had left his mobile phone behind at the residence.

When family members were unable to trace him or establish contact, they filed a formal missing person's report at the Urban Estate police station. The case took a tragic turn on Saturday when police received a tip-off about a body spotted in the Satrod sub-branch canal near the Dabda road bridge.

The body became visible only after the canal's water level had significantly receded, allowing passers-by to notice it. This led to the immediate alerting of authorities.

Body Found Tied to Motorcycle, Raising Alarm

Upon receiving the information, Assistant Sub-Inspector Sunil Kumar, leading a team from the Urban Estate police station, swiftly arrived at the scene. What they discovered was deeply disturbing. The body of Shivkumar was found lying in the canal water, with his legs tied to his own motorcycle using a rope.

The presence of the rope binding the victim to the vehicle immediately raised strong suspicions of criminal activity and foul play, shifting the investigation's focus. After considerable effort by the police team, both the body and the motorcycle were successfully pulled out from the canal.

Police Launch Comprehensive Investigation

The body was promptly sent to the Civil Hospital for a detailed post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death. Simultaneously, the motorcycle was taken into police custody as a key piece of evidence for further forensic analysis and investigation.

ASI Sunil Kumar stated that while the precise cause of death will be determined following the post-mortem report, the police are actively probing the case from all possible angles. "We are investigating the matter thoroughly, including treating it as a suspected murder case," he added, emphasizing the seriousness with which the authorities are approaching the incident.

The investigation is ongoing, with police examining all leads and evidence to uncover the truth behind this tragic and suspicious death that has left the Hisar community in a state of profound sorrow and seeking answers.
