In Prayagraj, a history sheeter identified as Manvendra alias Jailor, a resident of Sarayinayat, was arrested on Saturday for opening fire in broad daylight in Jhunsi bazaar. The police also seized the pistol used in the firing.

Arrest and Background

Station Officer (Jhunsi) Mahesh Mishra informed the Times of India that the arrested individual was a history sheeter registered with the Sarayinayat police station, with a total of 19 criminal cases pending against him. He added that the police are verifying whether the pistol was licensed or illegal. Authorities are also searching for two of his accomplices who were with him during the firing incident.

Details of the Incident

According to the police, two opposing factions were involved in a dispute near Lal Chowk under the jurisdiction of Jhunsi police station on Saturday. Amid the altercation, the accused arrived at the scene and opened fire in the air, causing panic among commuters and traders in the area.
