A 24-year-old history-sheeter, Ajith Kumar, along with a juvenile, has been arrested for allegedly stealing gold jewellery from a residence in Vyasarpadi, Chennai, last month. The police successfully recovered 78 grams of the stolen gold ornaments.
Incident Details
Ajith Kumar, also known as ‘Speed’ Ajith, a resident of Pulianthope, was taken into custody following a complaint filed by Kanimozhi, 29. Kanimozhi and her family had left for her native village on April 4. The next morning, a neighbor noticed that the lock on her house was broken. Upon her return, Kanimozhi discovered that 89 grams of gold jewellery and several silver articles were missing.
Investigation and Arrest
A case was registered, and investigations led to Ajith Kumar. The police found that he had buried some of the stolen jewellery in KP Park. Further inquiry revealed that he pawned some of the stolen items through a 16-year-old boy. The police located the teenager and initiated action under the Juvenile Justice Act.
- Ajith Kumar was produced before a magistrate court and remanded in judicial custody.
- The arrested juvenile was sent to a government observation home after being produced before the Juvenile Justice Board.
Further investigations are ongoing.
