History-sheeter shot dead in Prayagraj, two arrested

A 25-year-old history-sheeter was shot dead by two armed assailants near Malviya Nagar in Prayagraj on Thursday morning. The incident occurred around 7:30 am when the victim, identified as Saksham Panda, a resident of Mutthiganj, left his home after receiving a phone call.

Details of the Incident

According to police, two assailants on a scooter fired multiple shots at Panda. He was rushed to a government hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. One of the accused, identified as Bhola, was arrested near the crime scene. The other killer, Vimal Panda of Malviya Nagar, was nabbed by police within hours. Authorities seized a pistol and the scooter used in the killing.

Motive Behind the Murder

Police revealed that old enmity led to the murder. Panda and his rival camp were involved in a dispute over the possession of a wooden makeshift pan shop at Ganga ghat, Daraganj. It is alleged that Saksham and his accomplices had set the makeshift shop on fire on Wednesday, which escalated the conflict.

Saksham Panda had eight criminal cases pending against him. The police are investigating further to uncover any additional links to the crime.

Arrests and Legal Proceedings

The swift action by the police led to the arrest of both suspects within hours of the incident. They have been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, and further legal proceedings are underway. The seized weapons and vehicle will be sent for forensic analysis to strengthen the case.
