Homemaker robbed of gold jewellery worth Rs 4 lakh in auto

A 38-year-old homemaker was allegedly robbed of gold jewellery valued at over Rs 4 lakh by four men in a shared autorickshaw after she arrived in Ahmedabad from Keshod. The Khokhra police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.

Incident Details

According to the complaint filed on Saturday by the woman, a resident of Vastral, the crime occurred around 7 am on May 24. She had arrived at the Geetamandir bus terminus from Keshod and boarded a shared autorickshaw to Vastral. One passenger was already seated, and two more men boarded as the auto proceeded.

Jewellery Stolen

The complainant told police she was wearing a gold necklace weighing approximately 20.5 grams, valued at around Rs 3.1 lakh, along with three gold rings weighing about 7.5 grams collectively, worth approximately Rs 1 lakh.

Sequence of Events

When the autorickshaw reached near Hatkeshwar crematorium, the driver allegedly noticed the jewellery and demanded that she hand it over. When she resisted, the three passengers allegedly joined the driver. One of them slapped her and threatened to kill her. Fearing for her safety, she handed over the jewellery. The accused then allegedly forced her out of the moving autorickshaw near Hatkeshwar.

Police are currently searching for the accused and have launched an investigation into the matter.
