Gurgaon: A tragic accident claimed the life of a 45-year-old hospital manager after his motorcycle fell into a deep pit on an incomplete stretch of road near Manjhawali bridge in Faridabad late Sunday night.
Victim Identified as Atul Kumar Joshi
The deceased, Atul Kumar Joshi, a resident of NIT-1 Faridabad, was employed as a manager at an eye care hospital. He was traveling towards Noida when the incident occurred on the route connecting Faridabad and Noida.
Incomplete Road Section
While the Haryana-side portion of Manjhawali bridge has been completed, the slope and road stretch leading to Uttar Pradesh remain under construction. Police officials stated that the lack of lighting and incomplete road conditions contributed to the accident.
"Due to darkness and the incomplete road, he did not realize the road ended ahead. His bike fell into the unpaved portion and into a deep pit," a police officer said. Joshi sustained severe injuries and died at the scene.
Discovery and Investigation
The incident came to light on Monday morning when local residents heading to agricultural fields spotted Joshi lying in the pit with his motorcycle nearby. They alerted the Tigaon police station, whose team identified the deceased through the bike's registration number and informed his family. His brother subsequently arrived at the location.
During inspection, police determined that the accident site fell under the jurisdiction of Dankaur police station in GB Nagar and transferred the case accordingly. The body was sent to Dankaur Civil Hospital for a postmortem examination.
"The preliminary investigation suggests death due to an accident. Further action will be taken after examining the postmortem report," a senior officer stated.
