The Shimla Police have made another arrest in the high-profile Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD) recreational drug recovery case, where 562 stamp-sized strips of LSD, valued at nearly Rs 1 crore, were seized on March 10 from two accused in New Shimla.
Details of the Latest Arrest
The latest arrest is that of Sanjeev Kumar, 35, a co-owner of a hotel, who was taken into custody on May 16. A resident of Bushona village in Bhuntar tehsil of Kullu district, Kumar has been booked for allegedly destroying evidence and involvement in criminal conspiracy.
Background of the Case
The case was registered at New Shimla Police Station under Sections 22 and 29 of the NDPS Act on March 10 after the arrest of Sandeep Sharma from Punjab and Priya Sharma from Sirmaur. Police earlier arrested the alleged supplier, Naviel Harrison of Kerala, from Gurugram on March 13.
Further Investigations
During investigation, four anti-drug special task force (STF) personnel were also arrested for allegedly receiving the LSD consignment at a hotel in Kullu district. The police continue to probe the network involved in the drug trafficking ring.
