Hotel Fire: Chef Says Electric Stove Exploded Before He Fled

Police have arrested chef Keshav Negi in connection with the devastating fire at a bed and breakfast in Hauz Rani, Malviya Nagar, which claimed 21 lives. Negi, a resident of Dilshad Garden and employed as a chef at Flourish Stay Bed and Breakfast, was taken into custody after nearly six hours of interrogation.

Chef's Account of the Incident

According to sources, Negi told investigators that the fire started when he switched on an electric stove in the kitchen. The stove allegedly exploded, triggering a massive blaze. He further claimed that before fleeing, he switched off the main power supply. However, investigators suspect this action may have disabled the electronic door-locking system, trapping guests inside the building.

Arrests and Investigation

Earlier, the owner of the B&B, Lovkesh Bajaj, was also arrested. Police are continuing their search for accountant Jay Mishra, who is currently absconding. The investigation is ongoing to determine the full sequence of events and any criminal negligence.
