Howrah Gang Impersonating Police Officers Robs Resident of Gold Ornaments
In a shocking incident in Howrah, a gang posing as police officers brazenly robbed a resident of his valuable gold ornaments. The crime occurred on Saturday in the Ramrajatala area, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Jagachha Police Station.
Details of the Robbery Incident
According to police reports, the victim, identified as Bholanath Chatterjee, was riding his motorcycle when the gang executed their plan. One of the accused suddenly blocked Chatterjee's path, bringing his bike to a halt. Immediately, an accomplice approached him, brandishing a card with the word 'police' written on it to create an air of authority and legitimacy.
The impersonator then forcibly demanded that Chatterjee hand over the jewelry he was wearing. Under duress and likely fearing repercussions from what he believed were law enforcement officials, Chatterjee complied. He surrendered four gold-and-diamond rings and a gold chain, items of significant personal and monetary value.
Deceptive Escape and Police Investigation
In a bizarre twist to the robbery, the accused did not simply flee after taking the ornaments. Instead, they handed Chatterjee a few pebbles wrapped in a piece of paper, perhaps in a crude attempt to delay discovery or confuse the victim. Following this act, the gang quickly escaped from the scene, leaving Chatterjee bewildered and robbed.
