Hubballi: RPF Rescues 49 Children, 4 Elderly in May

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) in Hubballi successfully rescued 49 children and four elderly individuals during the month of May 2026. According to officials, the rescued children comprised 37 boys and 12 girls, who had become separated from their families due to various reasons.

Details of the Rescue Operations

RPF personnel conducted regular patrols and surveillance at railway stations and trains in the Hubballi division to identify vulnerable individuals. The rescued children were found wandering alone, lost, or allegedly trafficked. The four elderly persons were also found in distress, having lost their way or been abandoned.

Handover to NGOs and Police

After rescue, all 49 children were handed over to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) for care and rehabilitation. The elderly individuals were entrusted to local police stations for further assistance in reuniting with their families. The RPF also coordinated with child welfare committees and women's helplines to ensure proper support.

This rescue drive is part of a broader initiative by Indian Railways to combat trafficking and assist vulnerable groups. In recent months, similar rescues have been reported across other divisions in Karnataka.
